e Haj Committee of India has announced that only those holding passports will be allowed to go for Haj 2011.

(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - The Haj Committee of India has announced that only those holding passports will be allowed to go for Haj 2011.

The decision, according to the committee, has been taken in view of recommendations made by the Saudi Arabian government. Till Haj 2010, the Saudi government had allowed pilgrims even without passports, particularly in case of India.

An official of the Gujarat State Haj Committee, Jamaluddin A Saiyed, said all those who intend to undertake Haj pilgrimage must procure passports before the formal announcement of Haj 2011, for “only passport holders will be allowed to submit applications from now onwards”.
